About
An Accident
It’s a cold winter day. You’re driving down a winding, snow-lined road, perhaps driving a little over the speed limit. Heading over a bridge you’ve crossed hundreds of times, today is different. You hit what you can only assume is a patch of ice, and your car swerves out of control. With no idea what to do, you grab the steering wheel and hold tight as your car fishtails, sending you onto the shoulder of the road. Thirty of the scariest seconds of your life. Physically unharmed, you sit breathless in your car, trying to collect yourself before you drive off.
Where does your mind go with this?
Do you launch into the ‘shoulda,’ ‘woulda,’ ‘coulda’ of it all? Are you stuck in the same old pattern of blaming yourself for everything that’s not working in your life? “If only I had gotten tires. If only, I wasn’t speeding. This always happens to me. I never get a break. I am such an idiot.”
Fast forward to a session in my office.
The least productive thing would be to judge you for what you see as your mistakes. So, let’s do something different.
We’ll get into how your thinking is keeping you stuck, and how we can work together to help you move somewhere different.
This may be the first time you’ve reached out to a therapist. Way to go, and no worries. I can’t promise a painless journey to help you reach a more comfortable place, but I’ve done this before – and I am confident we can get the job done.
About Jill Giuliano, LCSW
My formal training helps me work with people to reduce their anxiety and manage stress around infertility, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and many other painful life situations.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master’s degree from Rutgers University School of Social Work and have been in private practice in Westfield, NJ, since 2004. I began my practice as Jill Giuliano, LCSW and in 2018 decided to give my business it’s own name and that’s where Inspired Life Changes was born.
Of course, training and education are important. When you’re looking for a therapist, you want someone who’s shown up for more than a few classes. That’s the bare minimum. What separates me from the herd, is my informal training- life.
Whether we’re talking about anxiety, grief and loss, infertility or relationships, I’ll meet you at a place of having some life experience and a natural understanding of these situations. I wouldn’t presume to know your path, but my awareness can be prove helpful.
Email or phone me. We’ll have a short conversation and get you started on your way toward your different life.
