Couples Therapy in Scotch Plains NJ
Some couples show up ready to talk it all out. Others show up because one partner finally said “I think we need help” and the other reluctantly agreed to try. Both are completely fine starting points. A lot of the Scotch Plains couples I work with fall somewhere in between, not sure exactly what’s wrong, just sure that something between them isn’t working the way it used to.
I’m Jill Giuliano, a licensed clinical social worker with an office just over the border in Westfield, close enough that Scotch Plains has become one of the towns I see the most couples from.
Easy to Reach, Easy to Actually Follow Through On
Therapy only helps if you actually make it to the sessions, and a long commute is exactly the kind of thing that quietly kills follow-through. My office is a short trip along Westfield Avenue, close enough to fit in before dinner, during a break in a weekend, or on the way back from Park Middle School activities. When even that short drive is one too many things for a given week, secure teletherapy keeps the two of you meeting with me without the drive at all.
What Brings Scotch Plains Couples In
I see a real range here, younger couples navigating a first home or a first baby together, couples in the thick of raising school-age kids who’ve lost track of each other in the shuffle, and couples further along wondering who they are together now that the house is quieter. Some are dealing with something specific and painful, infidelity, a major betrayal, a loss that hit the relationship hard. Others just want their connection back before it fades further.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if we can’t agree on what the actual problem is? That’s more common than you’d think, and often part of the work itself, getting both of you on the same page about what’s really going on underneath the surface disagreement.
Is it too late for us to fix things? Rarely. Couples come in at every stage, including some who were fairly certain it was over. Whether therapy is the right path forward is something we figure out together, not something to decide before you walk in.
Do you offer evening appointments? Availability varies, but I try to work with couples juggling school-age kids and after-school schedules, so reach out and we’ll see what fits.
Can one of us join remotely if we’re traveling? Yes, secure teletherapy makes that possible without losing the session altogether.
