Couples Therapy

It’s a Saturday night, and you’re out for dinner with a group of old friends. Couples.

You and your husband are squished together in a corner at the end of the table. Everyone is laughing and telling stories.

It’s coming, like clockwork.

Your husband’s going to tell the story about how he bugged and bugged you until you finally agreed to go out with him. Hearing it used to make you light up. It was cute; you laughed and felt special.

Not anymore. Now it’s like nails on a chalkboard. One more thing he does on the growing list of things that get on your nerves.

You feel trapped.

Your husband is no louder than any of the others, but you wish he’d just shut up. He’s talking with his hands and elbowing you in the side with each gesture. There was a time when sitting so closely was cozy and intimate. Now you feel trapped. This is so not what you had in mind when you got married.

And what makes it worse is that it’s not just you anymore. You’ve got kids to consider.

Where did things go wrong?

Sometimes you know where your relationship went off course. Other times, no.

I am here to help you rebuild the bridge between you and your partner so that the frustration you feel now is replaced by communication and positive energy. Not a referee; probably more of a translator to help you get yourselves to the point where you’re back to leaning in at dinner – and the list of things that you love about your partner eclipses the list of things that get on your nerves.

One text can get you both moving in a better direction.

Email, text or phone me. We’ll have a short conversation and get you started on your way toward a healthier and happier marriage.
